4 questions to the “Hacker Painter” Blase
Fabio Pariante interview for Museum Week Magazine
1.In your opinion, what is the role of a museum?
The role of a museum is to make bridge between creators / subject of culture and visitors.
2.What are your favorite museums in the world? Why?
The one I know the most is the Louvre Museum due that I studied history of art around there, so I know the vast collection, the quality of it, the architecture, everything there tells you that human story is a great story.
3.How important are social networks in your business? And which platform do you prefer and why.
It is really important in many aspects, I try to play with , but as a control freak person I like to edit my content with my own identity, it takes a lot of time, and you need to be in the mood for that, which doesn’t really fit with the algorithm which asks a lot of constance in your production.
Also, gallery won’t do that. You can show aspect of your daily work as a book, and an exhibition will never it show, so it s great opportunity for artists, and they shouldn’t see that as marketing things, it is what that want it to be.
4.To create greater engagement among museums, artists and professionals, do you have any advice for cultural projects such as #MuseumWeek?
To have greater person to talk about art, it is not only about intellectual things, or in the other way just to be playful, museum are not Disneyland neither.
I found quite frustrating to be still in 2020 in this manichean scheme, you come from public it should be arrogant, selfish, like you fell guilty not to understand what is shown or the other way “please do not take risk”, and if you come from private, only profit matters, maybe a balance should be found. In France actually, I don’t know how museum finance their activities abroad.
I would say like any other intellectual studies, is not your faculty of remembering things that make you a good professional, it more about adaptation with your environment and where you want to bring people with the art you show .
